September, school, classes are already here. But children always need to play and to relax. Here are some awesome playgrounds and parks to enjoy your family time with kids in New York City.
1 Play: ground, Governors Island
A new play space was opened on Governors Island, NYC in 2016. This is an urban adventure playground and is a free-for-all. Kids can build and destroy spaces here and this way kids will know how it is to be a self-directed player.
2 Tom Otterness Playground
Next one is Tom Otterness Playground at Silver Towers. Amazing place with giant bronze sculpture. Was opened in 2009 and after a year at Hell’s Kitchen, this creative sculpture is now in Silver Towers.
3 Imagination Playground, Burling Slip
designed by a dad-architect David Rockwell. This is an awesome interactive, transformable space for kids. Large blue blocks and tools, sand and water features are what kids need to enjoy and have fun.
4 Seaside Nature Wildlife Park Playground
Some people say this playground is the finest one in NYC. The Park is home to waterfront splendor and ideal space for kids who prefer wildlife games.
5 Pier 6 – Brooklyn Bridge Park
This is a popular waterfront park, which offers playgrounds, a dog run, pizzeria, and sand volleyball. Great for both adult and kids.
6 Science Playground at the New York Hall of Science
You’ll have to pay New York Hall of Science admission plus a $4 per person fee to have access to this playground. But it is really worth it. The NY Hall of Science admit:
Through dozens of playground elements like slides, seesaws, sand pits, and fog machines, visitors of all ages and abilities can explore the scientific principles of motion, balance, sound, sight and simple machines, as well as sun, wind and water.
7 Washington Market Park
This Park is a place where one sibling can play in the toddler area, while the other kicks around a soccer ball on the grass. So, Washington Market Park is all in one sitting.
8 Indian Road Playground
Located in the lush greenery of Inwood Hill Park. When writing this post, I came across a parent review about this playground: “Best playground in the neighborhood!”
9 Union Square Playground
To be extra creative they decided to use quirky, mold-breaking kid mecca.
10 East 72nd Street Playground
And the latest one for today is East 72nd Street Playground. This is a sandy beach in Central Park. Slides and swings, a redesigned sandbox and climbing structures make this Playground to be best for kids with different taste and predilection.
